Immigration Imagination field trips are tailored to your school's needs. Field trips feature:

Time travel back to 1870 to experience immigration from Sweden to America in our Children's Museum of Immigration.

Meet real characters from the past when you explore The Dream of America

Experience the confusion, excitement and sadness of Ellis Island
Walk the streets of an immigrant neighborhood in turn of century Chicago
Discover how ethnic communities develop and how immigrants assimilate into American culture

Grades 2-12 can tour our Gallery Space featuring rotating exhibits by Swedish and Swedish-American artists.

All field trips have the option to learn Swedish folk dancing and traditional Swedish crafts.

Guided Tours

Guided tours are available to all groups with a minimum of 10 and maximum of 60. Programs are generally two hours for groups of 20 or more. Tours are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $2 per student; chaperones and teachers are free. Some workshops require an additional fee.

Chaperones

We request that you provide one chaperone per 10 students in grades 4 through 12 and one chaperone per 5 students in grade pre-K through 3.

Lunch

Students may eat brown bag lunches inside the museum with prior permission.
